Whether one goes for athleticism or emotion, all of these social dance forms require staying in contact with your partner, a challenge, as a compromise
worse than marriage. You have to live together in a space which is just for one person. It's like two people sitting in the same chair. Signonsandiego
Mr. Lowell Gosser started to teach and promote Argentine Tango in 1970th at his studio
in Sierra Mesa. Then he opened first Milonga, first tango dance cruise out of San Diego
in the early 80's. Later, he turned it over to his beautiful dance partner, Mary Manzella.
His first tango club had about 40 members where the first guest instructors
(as Hector and Elsa Majural) also were teaching. Lowell Gosser and Mary Manzella
welcomed Ive and Ludmila Simard in 1990's to the San Diego dance world. At the same time Mary Murphy,
owner of Champion Ballroom Academy, invited them to perform at Ive and Ludmila with their huge past
ballroom background started to teach Tango Argentino in San Diego the 1990's at the home of Barbara
Bardrick. For a long time Ludmila, as a skilled and a strong dancer and teacher, was a driving horse behind
many tango events. Later, they rented a studio on Miramar Road with an ambitious name El Mundo Del Tango
(in 2008 it moved to Mission Bay as Tango Del Rey). El Mundo del Tango existed for almost 14 years with
the considerable help of many supporters. Ludmila was the soul and the heart of El Mundo del Tango until
2001.
Tango had many loyal people whose lives have really changed through this dance. For example, Susan Lake
was a creator of the Tango Ball and held it in San Diego for nine years. More about devoted tango people
please, read Tango is Champagne; Tango Spirit.
During many years almost everybody in San Diego was influenced or learned directly from Mr.& Mrs.
Simard, or from their students, now the best tango teachers in San Diego.
With my usual persistent passion I have been learning the Art of Tango with Ludmila and then with Ive, as
well as before and after them with many others, really wonderful tango masters. Since I studied character
dances of different countries, I could distinguish some folk elements in tango as well.
It helped me to sharpen my own dance very fast.
Then, I was invited to attended Master and Performing classes. We were told that those classes were
designed for some advanced dancers to be El Mundo del Tango teachers. In 2001-04 it was a big deal to get a
Tango Diploma from Ive.
Many students studied his videos and syllabus, took his private lessons, and traditionally did showcases in
order to progress. Then, they had tests on leading and following technique in order to begin to teach. I got my
Diploma as a Professional Tango Teacher-Educator from Argentine Tango Masters Association, and polished
my tango skills with the best tango masters of the world.
Some time ago I got a very useful and wonderful book Quick Start To Tango by Jeff Allen. As Ive said, he
studded tango with him. In 2001 Ive wrote a good revue of this book. Students could save a lot of time,
money, and could learn tango faster if they would read this book first. Buy it here!
In 2004 I registered my Tango Caminito Dance School Corporation. Then, I created special and successful
Teaching Course for couples Tango is as a Dance Therapy. I tried to give people more choice to learn tango,
and perform it as they might feel it.
In time the tango community of San Diego grew into a beautiful free spirit, because of several strong
personalities, Mr. Simard's former students.
Then Tango became more and more commercial. Some local teachers found a simple way to make own name
famous in a shadow of visiting guests instructors. However, Tango Stars opened up a huge Tango world.
Now San Diego has many wonderful places to go to learn and enjoy Tango with freedom of expressing
oneself on the dance floor. But Tango always is about being yourself.
You always dance who you are. Your personality is in your tango style, your steps and your movements. It
scares some people and they stop coming to dance. But with deep attention and open mind, you might learn
even more about Art of Tango through special lessons with a good compatible teacher. First, ask yourself if
you are ready for the tango challenge and ready to see who you really are. Could you dance tango and let
others see it? This is why Tango never stops...

It is useful to learn Tango with one teacher for a year. When you feel that you are
not any longer able to learn from that specific teacher, you need to move on, and
find another one with whom you could grow. Marcos Questas, 2003, Las Vegas
